Gold Class have been learning about the renaissance artist: Michelangelo. We learnt all about how he painted the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican. Feeling inspired, we decided to create our own versions under our desks using watercolours and oil pastels. It was a challenging yet enjoyable experience and we now have much respect for Michelangelo, who spent 4 years painting the ceiling!
In art, children in Thistle Class have been studying the work of Giueseppe Arcimboldo - analysing his unique portraits based on the seasons and elements, and using these as inspiration for our own nature themed collages.
The children in Thistle class used cotton buds and paint to recreate the pointillist art style of Georges Seurat with their own sunflowers.
Bluebell Class had fun using a spinner and paint to create baubles for our Christmas cards to Woodlands!
Bluebell Class designed and made clay Tudor rebuses during their trip to Peterborough Cathedral. The children included symbols relating to Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon, including crowns, pomegranates and roses.
We have been learning about the artwork of Henri Rousseau and putting his technique into practice, by drawing botanicals one feature at a time.
