In class we have been busy making hats ready for our Christmas party. Some of them are very sparkly!

This week, we have been working very hard completing all of our assessments for the term. We have all tried our best and shown lots of resilience!

We have also been rehearsing the Christmas Production and practising our dances and lines ready for the shows next week.

This week we have been writing instructions ready to follow to make our cookies in a jar mixtures.

On Friday we got to have lots of fun actually making them! We measured all of the ingredients and put them in a jar. We then designed labels and sewed hems to make material lids for the tops.

Work in Progress

We think they look really good. Come along and buy one at the Christmas Bazaar!

This week we have spent a lot of time reading the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. We have had debates about whether the Pied Piper was a good or a bad man, thought about how to convince the mayor to help with the problem of the rats and then re-told the story during our Big Write session.

Look how hard at work we were!

We have made a really big effort to use our spelling dictionaries and our writing prompts to help us to spell key words correctly too.

This week we continued reading 'The Pied Piper of Hamelin'. We thought about how we could  solve the problem of the rats!

In PSHCE we  read Miss Moore's favourite book, 'Something Else' by Kathryn Cave. We thought about how we are all unique but that we all belong together as well as strategies for solving conflicts. We then wrote our own versions of the end of the story.

We had our class assembly this afternoon and it went really well.

We are looking forward to Anti-Bullying Week next week.

This week has been very spoooooky in Squirrel class!

We took part in our Halloween Science Day. We put candy bananas in different liquids to see which would dissolve them the best. We  found that the vinegar and bicarbonate of soda had the best results. We also made 'Spooky faces'. We observed the chemical reaction between vinegar and bicarbonate of soda and saw how it made a gas that made our balloon faces inflate! It was lots of fun!

This week we have been drawing pictures of shells and painting them using our knowledge of primary and secondary colours. We  had to be very careful when mixing the paints to keep the colours accurate on the page. Here is some work in progress.

In Maths, we have been learning about shapes. We identified, described and sorted a selection of 2D and 3D shapes.

Have an enjoyable Half Term
