Well, what a busy Autumn term we have had so far!
We have recenty finished our unit on Tin Forest. The children have been learning all about different materials and how recycling works. We even had a recent visit from Jon who works at Amey recycling centre on the A10. The children learnt that plastic and glass can take up 500 years to decompose, and if we don't look after materials and recycle enough now, then there will not be enough metal for mobiles and laptops in approximately 30 years! That was a shock!
The class have been learning about Hindu Gods and Goddesses in RE. They especially enjoyed using clay to create models of the Hindu God Ganesh - who was half human and half elephant.
We are now starting the text Tar Beach which is based in New York in 1931. The children have been learning about bridges and structures and writing fantastic descriptions of the setting - an apartment rooftop in New York, with a view of the George Washington Bridge.
